Tennis Program Information
Our goal is to provide a fun, safe, and supportive environment where participants can develop tennis skills, build confidence, and enjoy being active.
Lessons follow the Learn to Play curriculum developed by the Tennis Professionals Association of Canada and are adapted to meet the needs of different ages and skill levels.
Participants should:
Arrive approximately 5 minutes before their lesson begins.
Wear proper tennis shoes with non-marking soles.
Wear comfortable athletic clothing appropriate for outdoor activity.
Bring a water bottle.
Bring a tennis racquet if they have one. Loaner racquets are available.
Parents, guardians, and family members are welcome to stay and watch lessons.
To create the best learning environment, we ask spectators to watch from the breezeway or surrounding grassy areas and allow instructors to provide all coaching and instruction during class.
Children learn most effectively when they receive consistent instruction from a single source. While encouragement is always appreciated, coaching tips or shouted instructions from outside the court can unintentionally create confusion and make it more difficult for participants to focus on the skills being taught.
One of the best ways to support your child is to ask about the lesson afterward, celebrate their effort, and encourage them to keep practising.
Lessons may be cancelled due to rain, lightning, unsafe court conditions, or other circumstances affecting participant safety.
Whenever possible, cancellation notices will be sent by email at least 30 minutes before the scheduled lesson start time.
Beechwood West 1 is committed to providing a respectful, inclusive, and safe environment for all participants, instructors, members, and guests.
Participants are expected to:
Treat instructors and fellow participants with respect.
Follow instructor directions.
Demonstrate good sportsmanship.
Use appropriate language and behaviour.
Bullying, harassment, discrimination, or other inappropriate conduct will not be tolerated and may result in removal from the lesson or facility without refund.
Participants join our programs with different levels of experience, confidence, and ability. Instructors will adapt activities where possible to ensure participants are appropriately challenged while maintaining a positive and inclusive environment for everyone.
We ask all participants to support one another and remember that everyone develops at their own pace.
